Synopsis

With dark shades on and a burning cigarette between his lips, Makoy will do whatever it takes to get back his girlfriend Sonia, who's pregnant with their child. He makes the trip to remote Pulupandan, her hometown, and is quickly rebuffed by Sonia's mother Fely.

The film was produced by Regal Entertainment, Inc. This fourteenth installment also serves as the Most Independent throughout the entire series for its sole director, Chito S. Roño.

Aswang is a 2011 Filipino horror film made for Regal Entertainment. It stars Lovi Poe. The film is directed by Jerrold Tarog. The movie is a remake of Peque Gallaga's 1992 film.

Plot

The story revolves around the abuwak race (Aswang). Their numbers had declined and the only way the race could survive is through the rare ability that only the soon-to-be queen of the abuwaks, Hasmin (Lovi Poe), possesses.

Abuwaks look human in their normal state, but they can fly and move underground when they transform into raven-like birds. They can also burrow through earth.

Romeo Candido directed and wrote the script for the film while his wife Caroline Mangosing produced it and plays the role Lola (Grandmother in Tagalog Filipino) Nena.

The movie was filmed in Canada and the Philippines and is having its world premiere at the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival and is to be released theatrically in the Philippines in November 2006.

The film is based on traditional Filipino folklore, and mentions creatures such as duwende (dwarfs), manananggal (winged, half-bodied vampires), aswang (blood-sucking monsters disguised as humans), kapre (tobacco-smoking giants).
